Sunday Mornings
Sunday school is available for children starting at 10 AM on Sunday mornings. A nursery attendant provides care for babies and toddlers too young to attend worship service. Parents may choose to take pre-K through 2nd grade children to the Younger Children’s Room for Children’s Time with a church member and a staff attendant during worship. Children in 3rd grade and above are encouraged to attend the worship service in the sanctuary.
Wednesday Evenings
A nursery/children’s attendant is available every Wednesday during choir practice, which begins at 5:00 PM. She is also available on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday evenings for those who attend Bible Study at 5:00 PM (when occurring).
Due to the pandemic, our youth group has gone on hiatus and will be rebuilt in the coming months.
Previously, the youth met on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays at church for fellowship and study. The Youth Group also had a monthly fellowship time at area attractions outside the church. Our youth missions include City Sights/City Lights Middle School Mission Experience hosted by one of the Western Kentucky Presbytery (WKP) churches each year. This event typically occurs in late June. Each fall a WKP youth retreat is held, during which an annual summer youth mission trip is planned. First Presbyterian’s Youth Group sponsors a Christmas Shoebox Ministry that provides gifts to children in Appalachia. Members participate with donations of small gifts and help in packing the shoeboxes, which are then taken to churches in the Kentucky Appalachia area. The Shoebox Ministry is one way the Youth Group helps share God’s love through service to others. Another mission of the youth is the Souper Bowl of Caring, which takes place on Super Bowl Sunday. Canned food and donations are collected to help with nationwide hunger-relief missions. For information about the mission of Souper Bowl for Caring, see http://www.souperbowl.org/
